Tack Shop: Dressing Like You're Going to a Vineyard on a Bachelorette Party With 11 Other Women in Their 30s
Cheers!
Welcome to Tack Shop, a shopping column where I (or friends of Clotheshorse) curate a mélange of interesting, fun, delightful things you can invest in.
Right now, I’m knee-deep in Dolly Alderton’s fabulous Everything I Know About Love. (I know, I’m the last soul left on Planet Earth with a functional pulse to read it.) And when I got to this quote, I left the room I was reading in to retrieve a pen from the kitchen for underlining purposes: Nearly everything I know about love, I've learnt from my long-term friendships with women.
When I first started thinking about my next Tack Shop, I kept coming back to this one thought: how much I cherish the women in my life. My friendships with women — long-time, new, or somewhere in between — are the ones that ground us, uplift us, and remind us of who we are outside of all the roles we juggle.
Weddings, bachelorette parties, girls’ weekends… They’re not just about the beveraginos and the hijinks (although those are appropriate excuses, too). They’re about carving out spaces to celebrate those bonds, take a breath, and make a statement that these relationships matter enough to deserve a day (or a weekend) entirely dedicated to us. An act of decentering men, yes, but mostly just a way to remember that we are whole women who deserve these moments of connection.
So here’s the outfit I’ve put together for this very (maybe theoretical) occasion:

Love this look & the sentiment behind this column! Also, thank you for the reminder to drink my water + electrolytes.
